Solus Christus
Solus Christus (Christ Alone)
In some ways this must be regarded as the chief article of our faith, for there is salvation in no other name under heaven than is given us in the name of Jesus Smalcald Articles, Part II, Art. I - First and Chief Article.
And so, it is not at all our righteousness, but rather, the righteousness of Jesus alone that
“is conveyed to us by the Holy Spirit through the gospel and in the sacraments” (Formula of Concord, SD III, 16).
Christ’s righteousness given to us in the Gospel is our firm and only hope before God (coram deo), that we will be received by God in Christ alone.
{4}In the fullness of time, God sent forth His Son, born of woman, born under the Law, in order that He might redeem those who were under the Law, {5}in order that we might receive the adoption as a son (Gal. 4:4f).
Being in Christ is a gift and an inheritance. Baptism clothes us with Christ’s righteousness.
{26}For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. {27}For as many of you as are baptized into Christ, have put on Christ. {28}There is neither Jew nor Gentile, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are the seed of Abraham, and heirs according to promise. (Gal. 3:26-29)
(Gal. 3:26-29)
